"I am super happy to join Hapoel," Lemar said after the signing, "I am excited to bring my dynamic abilities to the floor and add my experience and qualities to the strong team that is already being built here. Of course, I remember the crazy atmosphere from game #3 when I was in the AEK uniform, and I am excited by the thought of the energy I will receive from our fans every night. I like to compete and fight and I know that you, the fans, will be by our side until the last moment for the common goal of all of us - to win titles".
Coach Alexander Dzikic said: "We were looking for a player who can play in several positions, on both sides of the field. Brynton is an enterprising player, very talented and always willing to help his teammates. He really wanted to be part of the work and we believe that it has a very great meaning".
Sporting director Yonathan Alon said: "I am very happy that Brynton is joining us. He is a quality player who proved his abilities last season, will provide us with versatility and a lot of firepower. I'm sure it will fit in perfectly with what we've built so far.'
Lemar is a graduate of the University of California (Davis). In his senior year he averaged 16.1 points with almost 39% for three. He started his debut season in Europe in the French league, first in Nancy and then in Cannes, where he scored 14.3 on average. In 2018, he moved to the Hungarian Soproni and demonstrated dominance with an average of 18.5 points per game. The following season he played in Lublin, Poland, where he also starred with 16.7 points and almost 39% from beyond the arc.
In the following two years, he played in Gaziantep in Turkey and Breggio Emilia in Italy and maintained double-digit averages of more than 11 points per game and 41% three-pointers in the Italian league. He started the 21-22 season with Anisi Krasnoyarsk from VTB and moved to Le Mans in France, where he played for a season and a half. Last season, as mentioned, he came to AEK and gave his best season in his career so far. In the first two games of the quarter-final series against Hapoel, he recorded 21 and 24 points respectively, before the Red defense managed to stop him in the unforgettable game #3 at the Arena.
