?Last August, the Hapoel Jerusalem family lost a dear person - the late Avi Harel. Avi was the chairman of the club in the early 1990s and invested all of his time, energy and assets, even at a heavy personal financial cost, to save the club. Avi, to a large extent, paved the way for Hapoel Jerusalem to become what it is today, all out of true love for the team and the community behind it. In the game against Hapoel Tel Aviv, against the dear Harel family, all the Reds celebrated his life, and showed that he is part of the heart and soul of the club, forever.

Alon Kremer, CEO of Hapoel, gave a speech and launched a new award in Avi's name: "We are commemorating and honoring Avi Harel's life's work tonight. The fan community was so dear to Avi, and in his memory, I'm excited to found a new social initiative. Once a year, Hapoel Jerusalem will award a boy or girl who works to prevent boycotts in their school. The award was founded in collaboration with schools, social associations and the Jerusalem community, to commemorate my father for years to come."

Kremer was also joined by the club's sporting director, Yonatan Alon, who said: "Avi accompanied this team for the last 60 years in many positions, and created a lot of fans for himself and we miss him very much. I want to take this opportunity to thank Guy as well, for everything you have done For us in recent years." They were joined by Guy Harel, the son of the late Avi Harel, and the CEO of the group between 2013-2022, who said of his father: "From the hall in Strauss, Katmon, Yamka, Teddy and the Arena. These were all the homes of Avi, for whom the Hapoel was his first love. He was never interested in who the players, coaches, management or owners were - it was simply Hapoel. Many thanks to the people of Hapoel."

During the ascension of the players, the Hapoel players ascended together with the players of the youth team named after the late Avi Harel. In addition, during the minute of applause in memory of Avi, his children and grandchildren placed the team's scarf on its permanent seat in the Pais Arena in Jerusalem. Avi, your name is written in the book of chronicles of our club forever!
