?In any kind of art, like sculpture, cooking or music, balance is a delicate and important thing. If you change, move or add in an unwise way - everything may be destroyed. Even in basketball, which is a form of art, balance is the name of the game. In Hapoel Jerusalem 23/24, balance is not only an integral part, it is also one of its strongest weapons against any opponent. The ability to assemble different, diverse and almost identical in quality compositions - allows the Reds to be versatile and have the ability to adapt to any surprise that you will not encounter.
Jacorey Williams came to continue this exact line. Williams is an island of stability, as wherever he was in Europe in his career he put up identical figures in relation to the number of minutes he received. Every coach who ever played with him, knew exactly what he was getting - an athletic machine, defensive versatility, endless energy and a real paint beast. One who knows how to play as a single big-man, complement the taller next to him, play inside the paint, or take balls specifically from outside the arc. What is needed - Jacorey Williams does.
So what does Williams bring to the table? First of all, and above all - Williams is a paint beast. His ability to orient himself in space, move in the paint, use 100% of his physical and athletic abilities to get to the ring, and place the orange ball there - is a deadly weapon.
Opposing defenses, who see and know Williams, naturally try to curb this ability of his. Even there, the versatile big man knows how to read the situations, understand where the help is coming from - and punish it. A player who knows how to punish the defense in front of him for any decision you don't choose - this is the player you want on your side.
Another offensive layer that Williams brings to the Jerusalem offense, which can add another dimension of diversity to it, is the post-up game. Here too, the combination between the professional skills and the physical and athletic data, bring Jacorey Williams to an impressive ability in this aspect as well.
Williams comes alongside Zach Hankins, and as a complementary player, the question of compatibility between the two must arise. When you look at things superficially, question marks arise. The fact that the two tall ones do not excel at shooting from beyond the arc and the shooting range of both is limited - raises the question of whether they can live together. But we avoid looking at things superficially, and go a little deeper. And when they do it, they discover that although Jacorey Williams is not a great shooter, the truth is that he lives very well with the ball beyond the arc. His dribbling ability with the ball, the quick and agile movement past his taller opponents, and his athleticism - allow him to take the ball from outside the arc, straight into the ring.
On the defensive level, Williams adds and complements Zach Hankins with another important layer - the defense outside the paint. Compared to Hankins, who serves as an aerial umbrella for any stray object thrown into the ring from the paint, Williams is more versatile defensively and can use his length and athleticism to neutralize small and quick threats from him.
These are only a small part of the abilities that make up the arsenal of Jacorey Williams, and which led to his selection for the position of the highest supplemental in Hapoel. The fact that Williams on the one hand aligns with the team's offensive and defensive philosophy, and on the other hand adds additional dimensions to it, offensive and defensive - make him, and Hapoel together with him, an even more intriguing and lethal team than it is today.
