Update regarding upcoming league games' roster
Assistant coach Shay Ole'archik will guide the team. The foreigners will stay for a training routine in Belgrade
The club's management talked with the team and the foreign players about the expected return to Israel ahead of the start of the Israeli league. The players expressed their deep concern about the security situation in Israel and said that they do not feel safe playing in Israel as early as next week. In order to keep the team united while focusing on the long term and the continuation of the season, both in the Israeli league and in the Champions League, the club's management agreed to comply with the request of the team and the foreign players to stay in Serbia temporarily.
Hapoel is committed to the decision of the league administration to start the games in Israel as part of the importance of returning life to normal in Israel alongside the war. The club respects the league managment and the other league clubs and invests the best efforts to show up for the upcoming games with the best roster although the challenging situation. The club's management is doing its best to unite the entire team and players in Israel as soon as possible and looks forward to playing in front of its loyal fans and providing the best basketball experience.
Hapoel "Bank Yahav" Jerusalem will appear for the next two league games without the seven foreign players and without coach Alexander Dzikic, due to the security situation. The foreigners will remain in a training routine in Belgrade for the pair of games in the Champions League on December 13 and 20. The next two league games will be managed by assistant coach Shay Ole'arczik.
Sporting director Yonatan Alon said: "We were all caught against our will in a complex and difficult situation, and the players' sense of security is critical to the team's success. We will keep our team together for the rest of the way in the Champions League; all the foreigners want to stay in Hapoel and continue on the special path we started. We will do our best in the Israeli league and hope that the reality in Israel will allow the team to reunite soon. The players worry about the safety of the team's fans in Israel and wish for quiet days that will allow them to return to play for the crowd they love so much."
