Club Statement
Due to repeated incidents of flare lighting at club games, the most recent during the match against Ironi Kiryat Ata, the disciplinary court has imposed a severe punishment including a fine of 15,000 NIS and a conditional deduction of two points from the team’s record.
The risk of such sporting harm is equivalent to two technical losses and could lead to losing home-court advantage in the playoffs, which would be a serious blow to the team and its fans.
After the club submitted an appeal attempting to reduce the punishment, the federation’s highest court today ruled to uphold the fine and convert the conditional penalty into an actual penalty for one game radius, already effective in the upcoming match against Maccabi Ramat Gan on Sunday, January 5th at 20:50.
The club’s management regrets the impact on the fans and is working to hold the game at the Toto Hall in Holon. Fans who purchased single tickets for the game will be able to exchange their tickets or receive a refund through the fan hotline. Season ticket holders will, of course, be allowed to enter the game at no additional cost, and the club will increase shuttle services for fans. More details on ticket eligibility will be published soon.
Hapoel “Bank Yahav” Jerusalem believes that in a season when the war and security situation force the team’s fans to support from afar and watch players perform in front of empty stands, it would have been appropriate to show flexibility and sensitivity in imposing the actual punishment.
The punishment severely harms a fan base known for its fairness and impeccable behavior.
At the same time, we reiterate the clearest call - cease and desist from lighting flares, throwing objects, and shouting insults that harm the club and its supporters.
Yalla Hapoel!
