Hapoel Jerusalem | A hot Friday afternoon at Malha

A hot Friday afternoon at Malha

A practice game against Ramat Gan and a nostalgic atmosphere in the stands

30/08/2024  | Post-Game
On May 30, 2014, Hapoel played their last official game at the old Malha arena. Since then, the arena has become the team's training ground, and the red fans haven’t had the chance to see their team play in the nostalgic arena. Today, that changed. Although it wasn’t an official match, the red fans had the opportunity to experience Malha once again during a practice game between Hapoel and Maccabi Ironi Ramat Gan. In a closely contested game, the reds emerged victorious with a score of 81-88 in front of a full arena.

Hapoel will head to a preparation tournament in Milan next week and will then return to start the Winner Cup games.

Game summary:
The first quarter, like the rest of the game, was quite close and ended with the teams tied. Kadin ignited from the start, and Austin Wiley showcased his strength in the paint with powerful dunks over the guest team’s big men. In the second quarter, Ramat Gan pressed a bit more, but the reds quickly recovered and equalized by halftime with a score of 48. In the third quarter, Ramat Gan raised their game, causing the hosts to try and catch up again. In the final quarter, the reds tightened their defense and increased their pace on offense, coming back to take the lead and secure a double-digit victory, 88-81.

Top scorers for Hapoel: Harper 24 (4 assists), Carrington 15, Wiley 12, Justin and Speedy Smith 10 each, Zoosman and Cornelius 6 each, Dovrat 5
