In September 2011 Guma Aguiar became the major stockholder of Hapoel Jerusalem. Only four players stayed with the team: Yuval Naimi, Moshe Mizrahi, Uri Kokia and Brian Randle. The team signed guard D. J. Strawberry, forward Jarvis Varnado (who was released in January), forward Luke Jackson and center John Thomas. Avery Bradley signed with the team during the 2011 NBA lockout but went back to the U.S., and hapoel replaced him with Demetri McCamey. McCamey was later replaced by Ramel Bradley.  Hapoel signed Israeli players Guni Izraeli, Elishay Kadir, Andrew Salop and Dan Grunfeld.

Hapoel had another disappointing season in the league. After being defeated by B. C. Habikaa 81-59, Coach Oded Katash announced his resignation. Sharon Drucker, who led the team to win the ULEB Cup in 2004, took his place. At the end of the regular season, Hapoel finished fourth in the league with 14 losses and only 11 wins.

Hapoel met with Hapoel Holon in the quarterfinals. After each team won its home game, Holon managed to win the third game in Malha 70-65. Holon won the series 4-1

and qualified for the Final Four.

In the State Cup, Hapoel suffered an early elimination after losing to Maccabi Rishon LeZion 82-72.

Hapoel participated in the Eurocup, and was drawn to Group A with Gravlines, Donetsk and Cibona. The team was eliminated even before the last game of the group stage. Hapoel finish third in the group with two wins and four loses.
